Senior Full Stack Engineer (React/Node/Nest)

<p>Our client is seeking a Senior Full stack engineer on a contract basis to design and deliver scalable APIs, modern web applications, and cloud-native solutions. This is a hands-on delivery role requiring strong technical leadership, deep experience with event-driven architectures and microservices, and the ability to work iteratively in a fast-paced Agile environment.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Location:</strong> Markham Hybrid, 4 days onsite per week</p><p><strong>Duration:</strong> 12-Month Contract</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Design, develop, and implement highly scalable APIs and full-stack applications.</li><li>Build modern web solutions using React, NestJS/Node.js, and Spring Boot.</li><li>Design and implement event-driven architectures and microservices for distributed systems.</li><li>Deploy and manage cloud-native applications using Azure Container Apps, Azure API Management (APIM), and Docker.</li><li>Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.</li><li>Implement Infrastructure as Code using Bicep, Terraform, ARM Templates, Pulumi, or similar technologies.</li><li>Design and optimize relational and NoSQL database solutions.</li><li>Plan and manage code merges, branching strategies, releases, and production deployments.</li><li>Develop detailed deployment plans and support production releases.</li><li>Build observable applications using Azure monitoring, logging, tracing, and telemetry.</li><li>Leverage feature flags and modern deployment practices to enable rapid, incremental releases.</li><li>Use secure AI-assisted development tools while adhering to security and compliance requirements.</li><li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate solution options and drive technical decisions.</li><li>Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical and production issues.</li><li>Take strong ownership of delivery and adapt quickly as business requirements evolve.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><ul><li>10+ years of experience designing and building scalable APIs.</li><li>8+ years of modern web application development experience, including React and Node.js frameworks; NestJS preferred.</li><li>Strong experience developing scalable Spring Boot APIs.</li><li>Deep understanding of event-driven architecture and microservices.</li><li>Hands-on experience with Azure Container Apps, APIM, Docker, and Azure DevOps CI/CD, or comparable AWS technologies.</li><li>Experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally Bicep, Terraform, ARM Templates, Pulumi, or equivalent.</li><li>Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.</li><li>Experience managing branching strategies, code merges, releases, and production deployments.</li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.</li><li>Ability to explain complex technical concepts and lead solution discussions.</li><li>Strong ownership mindset with a focus on shipping production-ready solutions.</li><li>Ability to work effectively with incremental and changing business requirements.</li><li>Ability to work onsite in Markham four days per week.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Nice to Have</strong></p><ul><li>Experience developing discounting or rules engines.</li><li>Experience with TanStack within React applications.</li><li>Experience producing technical design documents and solution-option analyses.</li><li>Experience with Application Insights, Log Analytics, distributed tracing, dashboards, alerting, and telemetry-driven troubleshooting.</li><li>Experience with Agile delivery tools such as Azure DevOps (ADO) and JIRA.</li><li>Experience planning technical debt remediation and continuous improvement initiatives.</li><li>Strong technical leadership, planning, organization, communication, and presentation skills.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to balance speed of delivery, engineering excellence, technical trade-offs, and competing priorities.</li></ul>
