Senior Executive – AO&CS Security – Night Shift Role at IndiGo

Job Summary

IndiGo Airlines is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Executive – AO&CS Security to join our airport-based night shift operations. This pivotal role is responsible for supervising security protocols, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing night operations, and upholding safety standards. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on professional with deep knowledge of airport security processes, team management, and passenger service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee terminal and airside security operations during night shifts to ensure 100% compliance with DGCA, BCAS, and internal IndiGo SOPs.

  • Supervise security screening procedures for passengers, baggage, cargo, and airline crew.

  • Ensure efficient crowd management and threat mitigation during high-traffic hours.

  • Manage and coordinate with internal security staff, ground handling teams, and external agencies.

  • Handle security documentation, audits, and incident reports with accuracy and urgency.

  • Lead and train security personnel to meet safety performance standards and behavioral expectations.

  • Respond to emergencies, escalations, or suspicious incidents in a professional and timely manner.

  • Coordinate security arrangements for VIP movement, delayed flights, or operational disruptions.

  • Maintain a high level of vigilance and ensure passenger safety and satisfaction throughout.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in any discipline (preferably Aviation, Security Management, or related field).

  • Valid AVSEC Certification (Basic AVSEC and Screener preferred).

  • Sound understanding of BCAS, DGCA regulations, and aviation security procedures.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Hindi.

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick, effective decisions.

  • Physically fit with good stamina and alertness for long night shifts.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in aviation security or airport ground operations.

  • Prior supervisory experience in airport security or airline AO&CS department is a strong advantage.

Working Hours

  • Night Shift: Rotational shift timings between 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM or 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays is essential, as per airport operational needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent knowledge of airport layouts, security zones, and terminal operations.

  • Proficient in incident reporting and risk assessment tools.

  • Familiarity with X-ray machines, ETD, CCTV surveillance, and handheld metal detectors.

  • Leadership and people-management skills to guide junior staff and enforce discipline.

  • A customer-first mindset with the ability to handle irate passengers diplomatically.
