Senior Consultant | Domain (Tourism)

Role & responsibilities

  • Assess tourism ecosystems across states, destinations, and service-provider categories to identify opportunities for digital enablement.
  • Identify priority tourism segments and use cases for inclusion within the National Digital Tourism Stack (NDTS).
  • Conduct stakeholder consultations with tourism industry associations, travel platforms, hospitality providers, tour operators, guides, startups, MSMEs, and other ecosystem participants.
  • Provide sectoral inputs on tourism standards, destination readiness, service categories, quality assurance, and industry adoption requirements.
  • Support preparation of state-level tourism digitization roadmaps and destination adoption plans.
  • Facilitate engagement with industry bodies, tourism associations, startups, and private-sector stakeholders to promote NDTS adoption.
  • Identify PPP opportunities, investment models, and mechanisms for private-sector participation in the tourism ecosystem.
  • Provide inputs on policy reforms, operational bottlenecks, adoption barriers, and ecosystem development measures.
  • Support preparation of stakeholder engagement plans, consultation reports, best-practice documents, and knowledge products.
  • Assist in communication, awareness, capacity-building, pilot implementation, and industry adoption initiatives related to NDTS.

Experience

  • Experience in tourism, hospitality, destination management, travel platforms, tourism consulting, tourism development projects, or industry associations.
  • Strong understanding of tourism value chains, destination ecosystems, tourism service providers, private-sector participation models, and MSME challenges.
  • Experience working with State Tourism Departments, tourism businesses, industry associations, destination management organizations, or tourism-sector projects.
  • Experience in stakeholder consultations, sector assessments, tourism policy analysis, and industry engagement initiatives.

Familiarity with tourism technology, digital tourism initiatives, tourism promotion, and destination development programmes is desirable.

Qualification

Mandatory

  • Postgraduate degree in Tourism Management, Hospitality Management, Travel & Tourism, Business Administration, Public Policy, Economics, Management, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of relevant Industry experience.

Desirable

  • Prior Government experience
  • Certifications in tourism planning, destination management, hospitality, or related fields.
