POLICE DISPATCHER (Full-Time)

The Town of Bel Air is accepting applications for the position of Full-Time Dispatcher - Police Communications Operator I in the Bel Air Police Department.

The Police Communications

Operator I serves as a vital link between the public and the Bel Air Police Department, responsible for receiving emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching police units, and coordinating responses to ensure public and officer safety. This technical role requires the ability to remain calm, professional, and decisive during high-stress situations while managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Operators monitor radio systems, fire alarms, and regional communication networks; maintain accurate logs and records; conduct inquiries through state and national law enforcement databases; and provide essential information support to officers in the field. The position demands strong communication skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work rotating shifts - including nights, weekends, and holidays - in a fast-paced, public-safety environment.

Qualifications Computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system knowledge and experience is preferred.

Special Requirements The Town of Bel Air Police Department is seeking a Full Time Dispatcher - Police Communications Operator that is available to work rotating day (7-3) and evening (3-11) shifts and occasional midnight (11-7) shifts, including weekends and holidays; 40 hours per week.
