Printing & Packaging Development Manager – Offset, Flexo & Costing

Role Objective

We are looking for a hands-on Printing & Packaging professional who understands how printed packaging is actually manufactured and costed.

This is not a generic procurement role.

The ideal candidate should have strong practical knowledge of Offset Printing, Flexographic Printing, paper/board GSM, packaging structures, printing processes, lamination, finishing, costing and production feasibility.

Vendor development and procurement experience will be an advantage, but technical printing & packaging knowledge is the primary requirement.

Key Responsibilities

* Understand new packaging requirements and recommend suitable materials, GSM, structures and printing processes.

* Develop new printed packaging products from concept/specification to production.

* Prepare and evaluate packaging costing and price calculations.

* Understand cost impact of paper/board, GSM, ink coverage, printing colours, plates, lamination, finishing, wastage, machine time and production quantities.

* Review supplier quotations and identify differences in specifications and costing.

* Coordinate samples, prototypes, machine trials and new-product approvals.

* Work closely with printing and packaging manufacturers for technical development.

* Evaluate supplier manufacturing capabilities and production feasibility.

* Develop alternative suppliers where required.

* Support commercial negotiations based on technical and costing knowledge.

* Coordinate artwork/KLD/specifications and print approvals.

* Resolve printing, material, colour, lamination, structural and production-related issues.

* Maintain packaging specifications, supplier details, costing and development records.

* Handover approved products/suppliers for regular order execution.

Packaging Knowledge Preferred

Experience in some or all of the following:

* Paper bags

* Folding cartons / mono cartons

* Corrugated boxes

* Food boxes

* Paper cups & containers

* Greaseproof paper

* Flexible packaging / laminates / pouches

* Labels & sleeves

* PET / plastic packaging

* Other customized printed packaging

Must-Have Skills

* Strong practical knowledge of Offset Printing and/or Flexo Printing

* Printing & packaging manufacturing experience

* Knowledge of GSM, paper, board and packaging structures

* Strong understanding of packaging costing & estimation

* Printing inks, colour/Pantone and print-quality knowledge

* Lamination, coating and finishing knowledge

* Production/process understanding

* Ability to understand and compare technical supplier quotations

* Good Excel/computer skills

* Professional communication and coordination ability

Preferred Background

Candidates currently or previously working as:

* Printing & Packaging Manager

* Packaging Development Manager

* PPC / PMC Manager – Printing & Packaging

* Production Manager – Printing

* Printing Technologist

* Packaging Technologist

* Packaging Costing / Estimation Manager

* NPD / Packaging Development

* Production Planning Manager – Packaging

5+ years of relevant Printing & Packaging experience preferred.

Experience in food/FMCG packaging, vendor development, procurement or sourcing will be an added advantage.

Working Hours – IST

7:00 AM – 1:00 PM – Regular working hours

10:00 PM – 12:00 AM – Reporting and management coordination

Candidates should be comfortable working this split schedule regularly.

Important

We are specifically looking for candidates with technical printing and packaging knowledge.

Candidates whose experience is primarily general purchasing/procurement without hands-on knowledge of printing processes, GSM, packaging structures and costing may not be suitable for this position.

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
