Network Engineer – SCADA & Solar Park Operations

## About the Company We are seeking a Network Engineer with hands-on SCADA and industrial comms expertise to design, deploy and maintain the full OT/IT network at our solar park. The role ensures uninterrupted, low-latency data flow between field devices (inverters, trackers, weather stations, meters, transformers, RMUs) and SCADA, EMS and plant performance systems, in line with IEC 61850, IEC 62443 and grid code/SLDC requirements. ## About the Role The Network Engineer will be responsible for the design, deployment, and maintenance of the OT/IT network at our solar park. This role requires expertise in SCADA and industrial communications to ensure seamless data flow between field devices and SCADA, EMS, and plant performance systems. ## Key Responsibilities - Design, document and maintain the OT network: Process Bus, Station Bus, plant LAN and remote SCADA WAN links - Segment OT, IT and corporate zones with VLANs, DMZs and firewalls per IEC 62443 and the Purdue model - Standardize IP addressing, naming and asset registers across blocks, inverter stations and the substation - Plan redundancy (HSR, PRP, RSTP, MRP) for ring/star fiber topologies to meet availability targets - Commission field-to-SCADA/EMS communication over Modbus TCP/RTU (inverters, meters, weather stations, trackers), IEC 60870-5-104 (SLDC/RLDC telemetry), IEC 61850 MMS/GOOSE/SV (substation, relays), DNP3 (utility interface) and OPC UA/MQTT (historians, cloud analytics) - Maintain the protocol mapping matrix (signal list, register map, IEC 61850 data model) for every device class - Validate ICDs and test cases with inverter, SCADA, RTU, relay and tracker OEMs during FAT/SAT - Troubleshoot stale tags, time-sync drift, register mismatches and packet loss (Wireshark, IEDScout, Modbus Poll) - Commission and maintain managed industrial switches, media converters, fiber patch panels and RS-485 daisy chains up to SCB/SMB level - Implement time sync (NTP, SNTP, PTP/IEEE 1588, IRIG-B) for protection and metering - Ensure grounding, shielding and surge protection of outdoor comms cabling - Maintain as-built network diagrams, cable schedules and port-mapping records - Monitor network health via SNMP tools (PRTG, Zabbix, SolarWinds) and SCADA diagnostics; respond to alarms within SLA - Lead root-cause analysis for outages affecting generation, dispatch or load despatch telemetry - Maintain critical network spares to protect plant availability (PLF/CUF) - Support O&M, electrical and SCADA teams in shutdowns, upgrades and grid-code audits ## Requirements - Industrial/OT networking, preferably in renewable energy or utility plants ## Preferred Qualifications - Commissioning utility-scale solar PV (≥ 50 MW) incl. SCADA, PPC and SLDC/RLDC integration - PPC logic: active/reactive power setpoints, ramp rate, frequency response, voltage/Q control - Certifications: CCNA/CCNP, GICSP, ISA/IEC 62443, or OEM (Hirschmann HAC, Moxa MTSE, Ruggedcom) - Weather station, soiling sensor, pyranometer and tracker SCADA integration - Basic scripting (Python, PowerShell or Bash) for automation and log parsing ## What We Offer - Network availability ≥ 99.5% across all blocks and the SCADA-to-SLDC link - MTTR for communication faults within SLA - Zero data loss affecting grid telemetry, scheduling or commercial metering - On-time device integration, firmware upgrades and protocol changes - Grid and cybersecurity audit compliance ## Location & Work Mode - Location: Solar Park Site (on-site; occasional travel to other portfolio sites) - Work Mode: Full-time
