MES Implementation & Digital Manufacturing Lead - Fresher

About the job:

About the Role

We are at the beginning of an exciting digital transformation journey and are looking for an experienced MES Implementation & Digital Manufacturing Lead to take ownership of our MES rollout across our manufacturing operations.

We have already completed the first stage of implementation of the FACTOS MES platform for our injection moulding operations, covering key areas including production planning, downtime recording, rejection entries, production data capture and manufacturing KPIs.

This is only the beginning. We are now looking for someone who has hands-on experience implementing and driving MES projects in other manufacturing organisations and can help us take the system to the next level, improve adoption, and ultimately roll it out across our other factories.

What You Will Own

You will be the key person driving our MES implementation and will be expected to take ownership rather than simply follow an existing process.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and drive the ongoing implementation of the FACTOS MES system.
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to ensure the system reflects actual manufacturing processes.
  • Improve and develop modules covering production planning, downtime, rejection, production tracking and KPI monitoring.
  • Support the rollout of MES across additional factories as the project expands.
  • Train operators, supervisors, engineers and management teams on effective use of the system.
  • Monitor daily system usage and ensure production data is entered accurately and consistently.
  • Identify gaps in the current implementation and recommend practical improvements.
  • Analyse MES data and help management use it to improve productivity, downtime, rejection rates and overall production performance.
  • Work directly with the MES/software provider when technical issues, configuration requirements or system improvements arise.
  • Coordinate with internal production, engineering and IT teams to resolve issues and ensure smooth implementation.
  • Establish standardised processes and best practices that can be replicated across multiple factories.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to use digital manufacturing data to improve operational performance.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant degrees may include Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Manufacturing/Production Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience implementing, deploying or managing an MES system in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience taking ownership of an MES implementation or digital manufacturing transformation project.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production workflows and manufacturing KPIs.
  • Experience working with production teams and shop-floor personnel.
  • Strong problem-solving and project-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities.

Preferred Experience

  • Practical knowledge or previous experience of injection moulding processes and manufacturing operations is highly preferred, but is not mandatory.
  • Experience with injection moulding machines, production planning, downtime tracking, rejection monitoring and production performance would be an advantage.
  • Experience working with MES platforms in plastics, injection moulding or similar discrete manufacturing environments would be particularly valuable.
  • Experience integrating MES with ERP or other manufacturing systems would be an advantage.
  • Experience working with databases/SQL, production data and industrial systems would be beneficial.

This role requires someone who is comfortable taking responsibility for the project.

We are looking for a person who can look at the current system, identify what needs to be improved, speak to the production team, work with the MES provider, solve problems and drive the implementation forward.

You should be comfortable identifying problems and proposing solutions rather than waiting for someone else to provide direction.

You will have significant ownership of the MES journey, with the opportunity to shape how digital manufacturing is implemented across our factories.

The Opportunity

The first phase of our MES implementation is already underway. The next stage will involve optimising the current implementation and expanding the system to additional manufacturing operations and factories.

This is an opportunity for someone with previous MES implementation experience to play a key role in building our long-term digital manufacturing infrastructure and directly influencing how our factories operate.

If you have previously led or driven an MES implementation in a manufacturing company, have the technical and operational understanding to work with shop-floor teams, and are looking for an opportunity where you can take ownership and make a real impact, we would like to hear from you.
