About AI Training and Data Annotation

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Contributors review, label, write, and evaluate examples so AI models can produce more accurate and useful results. In this project, your document expertise and attention to detail will help improve AI-generated structured data.

  • Work directly with examples used to train and evaluate AI
  • Apply professional judgment to dense, real-world documents
  • Build experience in a fast-growing technology field

The Role

As a Document Data Extraction Annotator, you will work with PDF and DOCX files across legal contracts, patents, financial records, compliance documents, and other document types. You will read each source carefully and extract structured information into an annotation panel using a defined JSON schema.

Each task includes three AI-generated draft outputs. Rather than starting from scratch, you will compare the drafts, select the strongest option, validate every field against the source document, and correct errors or omissions so the final result is accurate and complete.

  • Role level: Intermediate
  • Employment type: Part-time contractor
  • Pay range: $8.00 to $11.20 per hour
  • Workload: Less than 20 hours per week
  • Work location: Worldwide

What You'll Do

Your work will combine document comprehension, structured data extraction, AI output review, and quality control. Accuracy is essential, particularly when documents contain long sections, repeated entries, nested information, or complex requirements.

  • Read source PDF and DOCX documents thoroughly before extracting information
  • Follow JSON schemas, including required and optional fields, data types, arrays, objects, and nested structures
  • Review three AI-generated draft outputs and select the best one
  • Edit the selected draft instead of creating every extraction from scratch
  • Validate every field against the source document
  • Correct errors, omissions, and inaccurate information
  • Capture all relevant repeated or dynamic entries, including line items and multiple clauses
  • Set genuinely missing required fields to null according to schema instructions
  • Write original summaries in your own words when required by the schema

Requirements

This project is suited to contributors who can combine subject-matter knowledge with careful, consistent data review. You should be comfortable working through long and dense documents while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

  • Background in at least one of legal, finance, accounting, compliance, or data analytics
  • Prior experience with RLHF, annotation, data analysis, or accuracy-heavy data entry
  • Solid understanding of JSON schemas
  • Strong attention to detail when reviewing long, dense documents
  • Near-native English comprehension proficiency at C1 or C2 level

Who Should Apply

Apply if you have experience interpreting legal, financial, accounting, or compliance content and enjoy turning complex source material into precise structured data. This opportunity may also suit experienced annotators and data analysts who are comfortable validating AI-generated work against authoritative documents.

  • Legal, finance, accounting, or compliance professionals
  • Data analysts with strong document review skills
  • Experienced annotators or RLHF contributors
  • Detail-oriented professionals comfortable with structured information
  • Contributors seeking flexible, part-time remote AI work
