Job Overview As a Freight Handling and Data Entry Specialist at DistributedGenius, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe movement of freight across our dock area. You will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks, including freight handling, data entry, and customer service. Key Responsibilities Perform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including but not limited to forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck Verify documentation matches freight description (e.g., type, weight, hazardous materials), using current electronic or manual systems Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies (e.g., pallets, straps, rope) Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary Verify and complete required documentation and reports Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed Perform hostling duties if required Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as DistributedGenius policies/procedures Perform other duties as required Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications High school diploma or equivalent, preferred Must be at least 18 years of age Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling, and/or forklift operations preferred If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator Basic written and verbal communication skills Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, to lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or more Ability to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shift Ability to work independently and/or as a team member Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred Experience with data entry and warehouse management systems Knowledge of logistics and transportation regulations Certification in forklift operation or other relevant equipment Ability to speak multiple languages Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment Basic math and problem-solving skills Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy objects Ability to work independently and as part of a team Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At DistributedGenius, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
