About AI Training and Video Annotation

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. People review examples, assess model outputs, label visual data, and explain their judgments so AI systems can learn from accurate, structured feedback.

In this role, your evaluations of 3D character animation and CGI video data will help translate professional visual judgment into feedback that supports better AI behavior. It is part of a fast-growing field where careful reviewers directly influence how modern AI systems are developed.

  • Work with video and 3D animation data
  • Evaluate outputs using project guidelines and rubrics
  • Provide evidence-based feedback for AI improvement

The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a 3D Animation and CGI Data Annotator for AI training work focused on 3D Animation and CGI Review. You will review source materials and model outputs, assess them against project requirements, and document clear judgments about movement, visual style, and quality.

Prior AI training experience is not required unless stated elsewhere in the project. The most important qualification is strong real-world, academic, or language expertise in 3D Animation and CGI Review, along with the ability to apply detailed instructions consistently.

  • Role type: Part-time contractor
  • Estimated duration: 1-3 months
  • Estimated schedule: Approximately 20 hours per week, with 20+ hours/week listed as the time requirement
  • Pay range: $15-$80 per hour
  • Estimated project earnings: $2,400-$12,800 based on the listed schedule and duration
  • Work location: Remote, available in eligible countries listed for the project
  • Working language: English

What You'll Do

You will help create reliable training feedback by combining visual expertise with careful written explanation. The work involves repeated review tasks, so consistency and attention to subtle differences are essential.

  • Evaluate model outputs and apply project rubrics
  • Review source materials and model outputs against project guidelines
  • Document evidence-based judgments
  • Explain decisions clearly so feedback can improve model behavior
  • Identify and describe subtle differences in movement and visual style
  • Maintain consistency and quality across repeated review tasks
  • Collaborate remotely through clear written and verbal communication

Requirements and Skills

This is listed as an entry-level opportunity, and previous AI training experience is not required. Applicants should, however, bring meaningful expertise in 3D animation and CGI review plus the technical understanding needed to assess animation assets and video.

  • Relevant professional, academic, or language expertise in 3D Animation and CGI Review
  • Proficiency with Blender, Maya, or Cinema 4D for 3D animation
  • Practical understanding of rigging, skinning, and character movement
  • Familiarity with CGI and VFX pipelines
  • Familiarity with video annotation or asset review
  • Fluency in English
  • Strong written communication and careful attention to detail
  • Ability to follow detailed project instructions and apply rubrics consistently
  • Ability to work independently on remote contractor tasks
  • Clear written and verbal communication for remote collaboration

Who Should Apply

This role may suit 3D animators, CGI artists, VFX professionals, animation students, and other visual-media specialists who can recognize technical and stylistic differences in character movement. It is also a fit for detail-oriented reviewers who enjoy explaining why one visual result is stronger or more accurate than another.

You do not need prior AI training experience to contribute. Your 3D animation knowledge, software familiarity, communication skills, and ability to make consistent rubric-based decisions are the foundation for this work.

  • 3D animation and CGI professionals seeking flexible remote work
  • Artists or reviewers experienced with Blender, Maya, or Cinema 4D
  • Candidates comfortable analyzing rigging, skinning, movement, and visual style
  • Independent contractors able to commit to the listed part-time schedule
